The story of Our Lady of Fatima: In 1917, amid the devastation of World War I, three shepherd children in Fátima, Portugal, reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary, who called for prayer, repentance, and peace. She warned that without conversion, an even greater war would follow—later associated with World War II—and shared visions of suffering within the Church, often linked to persecution of Christians and the 1981 assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II. The events culminated in the “Miracle of the Sun,” witnessed by thousands.
Today, the Sanctuary of Fátima draws millions of visitors annually, especially on May 13 and October 13, the anniversary dates of the apparitions.
