Cannabis Town Hall Discussion Planned In Bolingbrook
The town hall will include an explanation of the law and process involving cannabis, followed by questions and comments.
BOLINGBROOK, IL — A town hall discussing cannabis in Bolingbrook will be held at the Bolingbrook Community Center, 201 Canterbury Lane, on Nov. 10.
The town hall, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m., and will include an explanation of the law and process involving cannabis, followed by questions and comments.
In 2020, the state of Illinois started to allow consumers 21 and older to buy marijuana for recreational use from licensed sellers. Purchases of cannabis products from licensed sellers in Illinois are charged a sales tax from the state, and Illinois municipalities and counties can levy additional local sales taxes, according to the town hall flyer.

In late 2019, Bolingbrook opted out of allowing cannabis businesses to operate in the town. This topic is currently under consideration from the current Village Board.
