Waste Connections out of Houston, Texas, along with other companies within the industry, announced a temporary nationwide corporate policy change to their waste collection services. Waste Connections is the parent company that purchased Groot two years ago and provides refuse collection to Bolingbrook and other communities. These changes are required to protect and minimize their employees exposure during our national response to COVID-19 while maintaining services to the general public.

Effective Monday, March 23, 2020 Groot will discontinue collecting e-waste, white goods, bulk items and other loose refuse. At this time all garbage must be bagged and recycling placed in blue bins or other previously approved containers.

Given the changes to corporate policies, Spring Cleanup has been postponed to a future date. As of today yard waste collection is scheduled to start on April 1, 2020, however this policy is currently under further review by Waste Connections (Groot).
