Cold Storage Plant Could Bring Hundreds of Jobs to Bolingbrook

West Liberty Foods purchased Quantum foods site in June and now plans to build a 160,000-square-foot freezer distribution warehouse.

After a $54 million buyout fell through last spring, Bolingbrook’s Quantum Foods plant shut its doors, telling most of its 1,000 employees not to report to work.

Now, the once-vacant building is home to West Liberty Foods, an Iowa-based company that purchased the Remington Boulevard site in June, bring nearly 190 jobs back to Bolingbrook, according to the Bugle.

Last week, the Bolingbrook village board gave the company the go-head to build a 158,000-square-foot freezer distribution warehouse at the site. The company is also tentatively planning to add another roughly 102,000 square feet sometime in the future, the Chicago Tribune reported.

The project could potentially bring 600 more jobs to the village.

The facility is slated to be built on vacant land at 1310 Remington Boulevard, west of Weber Road near the Tilted Kilt restaurant and 7-Eleven, according to the Bugle.
