Drunk Man Kicked Out Of Wendy's Kicks Cop, Paramedic: Police
A Florida man was repeatedly asked to leave the Wendy's parking lot.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A Florida man who was repeatedly asked to leave a Wendy's restaurant kicked a paramedic and police officer after being taken to an area hospital, Bolingbrook police said. At around 9:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious activity in the parking lot at Wendy's, 396 S. Bolingbrook Drive, where they learned the suspect had been asked several times to leave.
Although the man, identified as 30-year-old William C. Shimmel of Tampa, initially complied and left the property, but returned a short time later, police said. Shimmel was informed he was under arrest for trespassing and began resisting officers' attempts to place him in custody, police said. He was taken to the Bolingbrook Police Department on charges of criminal trespassing to property and obstructing an officer.
Shimmel was released on bond, but due to "a suspected high level of intoxication," he was taken to an area hospital as a precaution, according to police. While he was being transported, he allegedly became combative with medical personnel, and attempted to punch and kick medical personnel once he arrived at the hospital, police said.

Shimmel kicked a paramedic and a police officer before being restrained, police said. Once he was released from the hospital, he was taken to the Will county jail and charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault. He was due in court Tuesday afternoon.
