DuPage Grant Will Help Bolingbrook Students With AP Test Fees
As more students take Advanced Placement tests, funding will help families who may not be able to afford fees.

With the number of Valley View School District 365U students taking Advanced Placement tests growing by leaps and bounds each year, DuPage Township has established a grant program for VVSD high schoolers whose families might not otherwise be able to afford the AP testing fee.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to be able to help the parents help their children get college credits,” DuPage Township Supervisor Bill Mayer said as he and Township Trustee Ken Burgess presented the grant to the district at Monday night’s School Board meeting.
The grant totals $2,500 each of the next two years which will pay for more than 250 tests.

“This is a true partnership. Both Bolingbrook High School and Romeoville High School are working as one with DuPage Township to help our students,” said Derek Kinder, principal of Romeoville High School. “We have all committed to pushing our advanced learners and making sure we give them the opportunity to get college credit while in high school.”
“This is going to make a huge difference for parents,” said School Board President Steve Quigley. “Hopefully our students will take more and more advantage of our efforts to achieve excellence here in Valley View.”

While specifics of the grant-awarding process are being worked out, grant recipients must live within DuPage Township boundaries (135th on the south and Royce Rd. to the north) and must attend either Romeoville or Bolingbrook High School.
