Enjoy Chili And A Hike At Hidden Oaks Nature Center

The Forest Preserve District of Will County will host a "Soup-er Chili" hike to Whalon Lake on Dec. 17.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — It may be chilly outside, but the forest preserves of Will County are still open to visitors.

The Forest Preserve District of Will County will host a "Soup-er Chili" hike to Whalon Lake on Dec. 17 at the Hidden Oaks Nature Center in Bolingbrook. The hike will be held from 1 to 3 p.m.

Guests can bring their favorite mug and a can of soup (non-cream only) or chili, the preserve said. There will be two pots on the fire, and you can add your contribution.

The food will simmer while participants hike to Whalon Lake, and when they return, they can enjoy a mug of food warmed over the fire, the preserve said.

The event is free and for ages 10 and older. Participants must register by Dec. 16.
