In the Tribune article, Khan’s attorney said releasing him before the trial would allow him to get counseling services and develop critical thinking skills in an effort to keep him from becoming radicalized.
Khan was arrested Oct. 4 at O’Hare Airport attempting to board a flight to Vienna with his younger sister and brother. Khan has been charged with one count of attempting to provide material support to a terrorist organization. His sister and brother have not been charged with a crime.
