Mall executives are encouraging locals to enjoy the winter weather by watching fire-throwing shows and ice sculpture demonstrations.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Promenade is encouraging locals to enjoy the winter weather with an event Saturday that features fire jugglers and ice sculptures.
The free Fire & Ice event is planned for 5-8 p.m. at The Promenade, 631 E. Boughton Road.
"[It's] really just something fun to do in the winter, bringing people back out [to] enjoy our Chicago weather and be with family," Director of Marketing Kristine Kuchler told Patch.

The action will happen at two staging areas on The Row and South Sandburg Way. Each space will contain up to three performers twisting and juggling fire batons.
Guests will be able to cool off by watching an artist carve ice sculptures or admiring already-complete sculptures. One demonstration is planned per hour, and once each sculpture is finished, it'll be put on display with the others.

"We're so excited about it," Kuchler said. "There will always be something going on in those little squares."
To top off the event, Sugar Bee's Sweet & Treats will have a tent set up to sell hot chocolate, coffee, desserts and popcorn.
"I think it's going to be well-attended and a fun thing for people to do. ... It's so different, not something that you see every day."
