Fountaindale Library Earns 4-Star Status From Library Journal

Out of the 5,359 libraries reviewed, only 258 libraries from across the nation received a star rating, the library said.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Fountaindale Public Library District has achieved a four-star status from Library Journal in 2022, according to a release from the library. Out of the 5,359 libraries reviewed, only 258 libraries from across the nation received a star rating, the library said.

Data was compiled from information provided to the Institute for Museum and Library Services and covered the 2020 fiscal year.

“I am thrilled that Fountaindale is once again on the Library Journal list this year,” Robert Kalnicky, President of the Fountaindale Public Library Board of Trustees, said in a release. “This commendable ranking speaks highly to the work and dedication of our staff and board, and it demonstrates just how much our community enjoys and utilizes our spaces, resources and services.”

For the past 15 years, the Index has rated U.S. public libraries on eight per capita output measures: physical circulation, eMaterial circulation, library visits, program attendance, public computer usage, Wi-Fi sessions, electronic retrievals (eResources use) and website visits, according to the library. The library’s four-star rating was a result of its overall score as compared to other libraries in its bracket.

Fountaindale’s strongest showing came in program attendance per capita, placing third out of the 30 libraries in its bracket.
