Four Bolingbrook HS Raiders Sign NCAA Division 1 Letters of Intent

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Four Bolingbrook High School student athletes Wednesday signed letters of intent to continue their athletic endeavors in college next year, according to a news release from Valley View School District 365U

Nana Akenten, rated as one of the top 10 players in Illinois and top 150 players in the country this year, will play basketball for the University of Nebraska. Akenten, who averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds per game last year as a junior, was Honorable Mention All-State and made the Herald News All Area and All-SWSC Conference squad. He also was on the all-tournament teams at the Decatur Turkey Tournament and McDipper Holiday Classic.

McDonald’s All-American and WBCA All-American nominee Jnaya Walker, a 6-2 wing for the Lady Raiders basketball squad, will play for the University of Illinois.

An ESPN Top 100 player in the Class of 2017, she was IBCA all-state last year and earned honorable mention all-state from both the Sun-times and Tribune. She averaged 11 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists as a junior.

Jeremiah Lebron, last year’s co-offensive baseball player of the year for BHS, will play baseball for the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. As a junior he batted .519 with 8 doubles, 6 home runs, 26 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He was All Conference and also earned Herald News and Bugle All-Area honors.

DayAndrea Thompson will be on the Cheerleading squad at Baylor University. A three-year member of the Raiders coed cheerleading squad, she is a three-time IHSA Cheerleading Championships state finalist and current Raiders varsity captain. In the past year she was named a Top NCA All American Cheerleader, an All-Conference SWSC performer and a Buffalo Wild Wings MVP. In 2014 she was a member of the World Cheerleading Champion Lady Lightning squad.
