BOLINGBROOK, IL — From 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, the Taste of Bolingbrook returns to The Promenade with free admission, parking and entertainment.

There's a new way to pay for food and drinks at this year's event, hosted by the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce. One ticket costs $1, and they'll be accepted by vendors instead of cash or credit.

The Taste is looking a little different in one other aspect this year. Due to COVID-19, there won't be any live music at the event, Grace Tucker, manager of communications and events at the Chamber of Commerce, told Patch in June.

In the past, every restaurant at The Promenade participated in the event. While each restaurant sets its own menu, prices can vary, but each is asked to sell a taste-size item for $3, Tucker said.

While adults can enjoy the beer garden on the grounds, children can participate in activities hosted by The Learning Experience and Camp Fire Illinois Prairie.

There will also be a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at the Taste. Members of the Bolingbrook Fire Department will be offering doses of either the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine or the first shot of the Pfizer vaccine. Should people choose Pfizer, they can receive their second dose at Fire Station #4, 1111 W. Boughton Road, Aug. 28.

LaBranche Family Foundation, a non-profit organization working to help support financially struggling families in Will County, will be among others tabling the event. They'll offer ring toss, prizes and free face masks for children in attendance.

Meijer donated face masks to the foundation, allowing 500 local kids to receive five prepackaged, washable masks to use in the upcoming school year.
