Mother's Day Special Delivery: Mom Gives Birth On I-55 In Bolingbrook

With her husband's help, a local mom delivered her baby on northbound I-55 on Mother's Day.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A local mom got an amazing — albeit early — surprise this Mother's Day. Expectant parents Cheri and Chris Russell were on their way to the hospital Sunday when their baby got a bit impatient and decided to make an appearance. Cheri gave birth to the couple's third child, a baby boy, on the side of northbound I-55 in Bolingbrook while her husband assisted, according to ABC Chicago.

In a Snapchat video he shared with the network, Chris exclaims, "He couldn't wait — he decided to be born on the side of I-55," as mom Cheri cradles the crying newborn. Soon, an ambulance can be seen pulling up alongside the couple's car.

Born premature, baby Charles Xavier Russell (Charlie for short) was reportedly doing well in the NICU at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital late Sunday, according to ABC.
