Humphrey Defeats Addams to Win 7th Grade Basketball Regional Title
The Warriors will compete in the sectional next week.

Humphrey Middle outscored Jane Addams Middle School 12-0 over a nearly three minute stretch of the fourth quarter to notch a 58-45 IESA 7th grade boys basketball regional final victory Thursday afternoon.
The Warriors advance to a 6:30 p.m. Wednesday sectional final at Jane Addams against either Flinn or Eisenhower Middle School of Rockford with the winner advancing the state quarterfinals.
Addams (15-8) went into the fourth quarter trailing by two points but an L.J. Brockington put-back and Darius Burford’s layup in the opening minute made it 37-35 Mustangs before Humphrey (14-1) went on its run.

David Brooks (7 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals) started it all with a jumper at the 4:40 mark. Joe Corso (12 points, 8 rebounds) hit a 3-pointer from the corner 30 seconds later, Kyonte Thomas (14 points, 4 assists) set up Brooks for a pair of layups and Devon Jones (20 points, 6 rebounds) hit the fifth of his six 3-pointers at the 2:40 mark to make it 47-37 Warriors.
Humphrey cruised home from there with Thomas hitting 7 free throws and Marquail Biggs (14 points, 4 steals) adding a pair of free throws.

Burford hit 19 of his 21 points for Addams in the first half. Daniel Gilbreath (11 rebounds) added 9 points, Taha Kahn (10 rebounds) hit for 8 points, Koby Foster (3 steals) scored 3, and Brockington and Myles Cooper each hit a basket.
Other members of the Humphrey squad include Zaquail Biggs, Josue Martinez, Christian Nan Danke, Chris Williams, Rafael Ascencio and Marco Villagomez.
