Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta said the Villages have been working together to complete an access justification report on the phase 1 study for additional interchanges on I-55.

The total project cost for all three communities is $3,301,636.22 and the federal share is $1,468,500.38, according to board documents. IDOT has budgeted $170 million in their multi-year plan for the project.

The original agreement between the Villages was entered into on Aug. 25, 2009, Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta said. It has been amended twice, once in July 2011 and once in July 2017.

"Due to additional work required, there have been additional costs to complete the study," Alexander-Basta said.

Village Co-Administrator Lucas Rickelman said Bolingbrook originally started a study for a full interchange at Route 126 and I-55 on its own.

"At the same time, Romeoville had been looking at the Airport Road interchange, and one of the comments that we got back from IDOT was that we needed to combine the two studies," Rinkelman said.
