iPic: Bolingbrook’s Best Spot to Catch an NFL Game as a Couple?

iPic was launched in Bolingbrook this summer, taking over the location at The Promenade from Gold Class Cinemas, and is a great place to catch your favorite game.

The scenario: You’ve waited for it all week and you’re certain this will be the last free Sunday afternoon you have for the next 30 or 40 weeks. All you really want to do is watch the big game. You work hard and deserve a few hours of uninterrupted zone-out time in the company of your favorite team.

The problem: Your significant other is not a fan, and you really should commit to doing something with each other under the same roof.

The neighborhood solution: Salt Sports Bar, the bar at , where you both can feel like you win, even if the Bears do not.

Movies and football are a lot alike, according to Mark Mulcahy, vice president of marketing for iPic Entertainment.

“They’re both great escapes,” he said. “When you’re watching, you’re not thinking about your bills and things, and that’s exactly what movies are — they really go hand-in-hand together.”

iPic was launched in this summer, taking over the location at from Gold Class Cinemas. If you haven’t gone yet, football season may be just the time to start.

Set in a contemporary atmosphere, the décor is clean and modern, and the movie screens aren’t the only ones showing something worth watching.

Salt has more than 20 plasma TVs, which show NFL Ticket throughout the season, according to general manager Michael Sullivan.

There are Sunday specials, too, Sullivan said — like $9 beer buckets and a $6 menu featuring items like mahi mahi and filet mignon sliders. Salt also has Wi-Fi, so you can even set up the old laptop to keep real-time account of your fantasy team.

A resident mixologist, a local chef and a free billiards is also available to your better half, who very well may be inclined to recline upon one of the cushy orange movie theater seats, and indulge in the services of a full wait staff for the first 20 minutes of every feature, while you get down to business with your beer and flatbread at the bar.

“We pride ourselves on being the ultimate destination. We’re more than just a movie theater, more than just a sports bar,” Sullivan said.

And in the end, you can even drive home together, and it will almost be like you were never apart — because technically, you weren‘t.

“There’s really no better way to see a movie. It’s just a great night out,” Sullivan said.
