Jared Jewelers Robbed By 4 Thieves: Crime Blotter

It wasn't the only huge crime in Bolingbrook last week, either.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - Here is your look at criminal activity around the village of Bolingbrook during the past week.

JULY 19

Officers were called to Meijer, 755 E. Boughton Rd., for the theft of allergy medications. The thief concealed items in a plastic tote and exited the store at 11:15 p.m without rendering payment. Loss valued at $557.

JULY 20

Windows were broken out to a residence on the 200 block of N. Pinecrest Rd. between 07/19-07/20.

Patrick Little, 26, Oswego, was charged with two counts of DUI and improper turn, following a traffic stop at Bradford Pl. & Taylor Ct. at 11:37 p.m.

JULY 21

A 16-year-old juvenile, Glendale Heights, was charged with retail theft and resisting a peace officer from Wal-Mart, 200 S. Bolingbrook Dr., at 4:45 p.m.

Kierra Ward, 28, Woodridge, was charged with DUI, following a traffic stop on the 800 block of E. Boughton Rd. at 11:58 p.m.

A package was taken from a doorstep on the 200 block of Butternut Dr. at 1:00 p.m.

Officers were called to the 1200 block of W. Boughton Rd. for the report of a burglary to a motor vehicle. A handgun was taken from the trunk of an unsecured vehicle between 8:45 p.m – 10:26 p.m.

Officers responded to Jared Jewelers, 693 E. Boughton Rd., for the report of a burglary. Four unknown people entered the store at 4:43 p.m., broke several display cases, took jewelry and ran from the business at 4:50 p.m. The theft appears to be related to similar thefts in the Chicago area. Loss/damages valued at $65,000.

JULY 22

A lock was cut to a trailer parked at Old Chicago Dr. & Bolingbrook Dr. Over 700 cell phones were taken between 07/20-07/22. Loss valued at $30,000.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Plainview Dr. for the report of a fight. The victim was transported for his injuries at 3:24 a.m.

JULY 23

Miguel Grubbs, 37, 153 Valley Dr., was charged with DUI, no insurance, no valid driver’s license and moving violation, following a traffic stop at Carlyle Dr. & Springhill Dr. at 2:35 a.m.

Officers were called to Meijer, 755 E. Boughton Rd., for the report of a retail theft. Suspect did not scan all items at self-check out at 2:29 pm. Loss valued at $68.

JULY 24

Several windows were broken to a vehicle parked on the 400 block of Janes Ave. at 1 a.m.

The seal was cut to a trailer parked at Veterans Pkwy & S. Frontage Rd. and removed 51 boxes of Hostess donuts sometime overnight.

Officers responded to the 300 block of Woodcreek Dr. for the report of a burglary of vehicle parts. The battery, spark plugs, registration card and ignition coil were removed from the vehicle sometime overnight.

Officers were called to the 500 block of Territorial Dr., for the report of a burglary. Burglars entered the trailer while the driver was sleeping, removed numerous boxes of jerseys and loaded into a vehicle and drove off at 2:30 a.m.

JULY 25

Julian Calderon, 19, 1206 N. Center St., Joliet, was charged with an in-state warrant, and Carlos Johnson, 42, 953 Woodruff St., Joliet was charged with an in-state warrant and five counts of forgery, following a patrol stop on the 200 block of N. Bolingbrook Dr. for suspicious activity at 4:43 p.m.

Semaja Dawson, 24, 314B Woodcreek Dr., was charged with resisting a peace officer, no insurance, driving on a suspended license and speeding, following a traffic stop on the 300 block S. Schmidt Rd. at 11:50 p.m.
