Lane Closed for Pothole Repair on I-55 over Illinois 53

The repair is expected to last until late this afternoon, possibly impacting the evening commute.

An emergency pothole repair has required closing the right southbound lane of Interstate 55 over Illinois 53 near Bolingbrook, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation. The repair is expected to last until late this afternoon, possibly impacting the evening commute.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.

The bridge where the repair is taking place will be included in a larger patching project, tentatively starting in late October, to improve I-55 between Weber Road and the Veterans Memorial Tollway (Interstate 355).
