Library Micro-Pantry Collecting Thanksgiving Dinner Donations

For this year's event, you can drop off items at the library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 20.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Fountaindale Public Library's micro-pantry is hosting its third annual Thanksgiving dinner donation event.

The micro-pantry was designed and funded by father and daughter, Scott Silmon and Ashley Silmon-Rodriguez, the library said. It first opened in April 2019.

Everyone in the community is invited to leave or take non-perishable food items, toiletries and diapers at the micro-pantry.

Ashley helps rally the community every year to donate items to help families for Thanksgiving, the library said. For this year's event, you can drop off items at the library from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 20.

The items will be packaged together for a Thanksgiving dinner for families to pick up later that day, the library said.

Recommended items for the micro-pantry's dinner packages include:

  • Canned hams
  • Canned green beans
  • Stuffing
  • Gravy
  • Boxed mashed potatoes
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Canned yams
  • Brown sugar
  • Boxed corn bread
  • Brownie mix
  • Package of hot chocolate/coffee/tea/juice
