Loaded Pistol, Catalytic Converters Found In Car After Crash: PD

The car had been speeding and driving erratically before it crashed into another vehicle, police said.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — A loaded pistol, two catalytic converters and a reciprocating saw were recovered from a vehicle involved in a crash in Bolingbrook, according to Bolingbrook Police.

At 10:30 p.m. Thursday, a Bolingbrook patrol vehicle saw a silver Chevrolet Impala speeding and driving erratically eastbound on Boughton Road near Whitewater Drive, police said. Shortly after, the vehicle collided with another at the intersection of Boughton and Schmidt roads. The collision occurred before the patrol unit had a chance to stop the vehicle, police said.

The Bolingbrook Fire Department was called to the scene to tend to the occupants of both vehicles, police said. The people in the Impala, and the driver of the other vehicle, were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

According to police, during the crash investigation, a loaded pistol, which was converted to fire fully automatic, was recovered from the passenger compartment of the Impala. Two catalytic converters and a reciprocating saw were also found in the car.

Charges are pending as the investigation continues in consultation with the Will County State's Attorney Office, police said.
