Bolingbrook, IL - It is with great excitement I share with my fellow neighbors and friends my first children's book publication, "The Dinosaur Door." As someone who was born and raised in Bolingbrook and now raising his family here, I wanted to share locally first.

Initially written 3 years ago, “The Dinosaur Door” was created after our firstborn, Matt Jr., randomly put two words together at age 2— “dinosaur door.” We had no idea what that meant, aside from him loving dinosaurs, but my wife chuckled that it sounded like the name of a great children’s book. My passion for writing began with poetry as a child, and it was a great excuse for me to go back to my roots. So, here it is!

Though I believe I have found my calling in life by serving as a mental health professional (professor, clinician, supervisor, author, presenter, advocate); my favorite role is that of a father. That said, this book means a lot to me both personally and professionally. They tell you that you can never get back the time you have with your children when they are young, and fortunately, I learned that lesson early. Matt and Malia were 3 and 2 when I initially wrote this and are now 6 and 5. The time has passed, but they are still the loves of my life, along with Mallory, age 1, who was our silver lining of the pandemic. Every day I feel fortunate for my family, as the simple things matter most.

Without further ado, the description is as follows:

In “The Dinosaur Door,” two children, Matt—age 3 and Malia—age 2, enter a prehistoric place of mystical adventure while being read a bedtime story. As they become dinosaurs themselves, they play with other dinosaurs, engage in counting exercises, and experience the joy of playing with diverse others. As such, the story teaches counting, dinosaur names, the celebration of diversity, and that bedtime can be as fun--if not more--than any other time of day. Enter “The Dinosaur Door” if you dare and be amazed by the fun that lies ahead.
