Local Boy Scouts Of America Council Announces New Eagle Scouts
Over 300 Local New Eagle Scouts Awarded In 2019.
From The Three Fires Council: The Three Fires Council, Boy Scouts of America have awarded more than 300 young men the rank of Eagle Scout so far in 2019 and the list keeps growing. This last month (November), 27 young men earned the highest achievement attainable in Scouts BSA a program of the Boy Scouts of America and joined the ranks of Eagle Scout which consists of over 4,000 local alumni.
“It’s an exciting time to see our youth grow through the program and reach goals they made when they first joined at five or six years old,” said Clint Scharff, Scout Executive/CEO. “As an Eagle Scout and father of an Eagle Scout, I’ve seen first-hand the character development and leadership that the programs of Boy Scouts of America offers to today’s youth.”
Youth looking to attain their Eagle Scout, must be active in the program, hold multiple leadership roles for a minimum of two years and earn twenty-one merit badges and complete a Service Leadership project, which entails conceptualizing, planning, fundraising, leading and executing the project and writing an after-action impact report. Service hours spent on the project range from 100 hours to 400 hours. Once completed, the Scout must pass a “Board of Review”- an interview by community and Scouting leaders to officially obtain the rank.
