Longtime Resident Appointed to Bolingbrook Village Board

Two weeks after trustee Patricia Schanks announced her retirement, Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar appointed a longtime resident to fill her spot on the board.

Deresa Hoogland, a 27-year resident of Bolingbrook, was sworn in during Tuesday night's village board meeting. She will serve the remainder of Schanks' term, ending in 2019.

Hoogland has long been active in the Bolingbrook community, serving as an ambassador and board member for the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Bolingbrook Women's Club.

She said the position on the board will allow her to continue her involvement in Bolingbrook.

"I love this community -- the more I can do, the happier it makes me feel," she said Wednesday.
