May Events at the Fountaindale Public Library

There's something for everyone to enjoy!

BOLINGBROOK, IL – Fountaindale Public Library District is welcoming spring and bringing a variety of programs and events for adults, teens and children. This month, you can sign up for Summer Adventure: Let the Games Begin, learn how to use graphic design software, recycle and shred old documents, get crafty, learn basic gardening, relieve stress for finals and much more.

A list of May library events and details is below. All programs are free of charge and require registration unless otherwise stated. Special Programs
2016 Summer Adventure: Let the Games Begin
Monday, May 23–Saturday, July 30

Go for the gold this summer! Earn points for completing fun activities, including reading, attending library events, playing outdoors and more. Collect your prizes when you hit 25 and 50 points. Open to Fountaindale cardholders of all ages. Learn more at fountindale.org/summeradventure.

2016 Summer Adventure Opening Ceremony: Sky Squad
Wednesday, June 1, 7:00 p.m.
Annerino Community Center Gym, 201 Recreation Drive

Join us for our Summer Adventure Opening Ceremony! Watch as the Sky Squad, led by “Sky Guy” Andres Baines, delivers non-stop excitement with dazzling acrobatic flips and twists, mid-air passes and skilled slam dunking! Sign up for our Summer Adventure while you are here. All ages; no registration required. This program is generously funded by the Friends of the Library.

Paper Shredding

Saturday, May 21, 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Fountaindale’s Go Green Team is once again offering free paper shredding. Bring old personal papers to the Library parking lot to be shredded on site! The limit per household is three boxes or bags (any size). Electronics recycling will not be offered at this event.

Miniature Paintball

Wednesday, May 4, 3:30 p.m.
Make mini-paintball guns using everyday items, load up your projectiles full of paint and see how much paint you can get on the target! We will meet in the Vortex and then take the program outside. In the case of inclement weather, the program will be rescheduled.

Fun with Fandoms
Wednesday, May 11, 3:30 p.m.
Work on your fan art, fanfiction or original works or projects with fellow fans, artists and writers. Drop in; no registration required.

Henna Art
Wednesday, May 11, 6:30 p.m.
Use henna to ornately decorate your hand, wrist or arm. Henna dye will last about one week.

Babysitting Class
Saturday, May 14, 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Joan O’Malley of Five Star CPR and First Aid will address the roles and responsibilities of a babysitter as well as basic first aid and CPR techniques. Students should bring a baby doll to class (no stuffed animals).

Tabletop Gaming
Monday, May 16, 3:00 p.m.
Play traditional board games like Apples to Apples, Connect 4, Sushi Go!, Clue, Jenga and more. Bring your own games to share, too. Drop in; no registration required.

Intermediate Crochet or Knitting
Wednesday, May 18, 6:30 p.m.

Food for Thought

Introducing a whole new book club for teens! No required reading. No in-depth questions. Just talk about a book—any book—you’ve read while enjoying snacks.

Project Runway: Teen Edition
Saturday, May 21, 2:30–4:00 p.m.
Teens will compete to create outfits out of various craft materials. Judges will look for quality of construction, cohesion of outfit and overall creativity. Prizes awarded!
