When officers arrived, they found both men dead from gunshot wounds and a gun was found near one of the victims.

Police are still investigating the incident.

The shooting put several Bolingbrook schools on lockdown at the request of police.

Valley View School District Community Relations Director Larry Randa said Bolingbrook High School was placed in soft lockdown shortly before 10 a.m.

“Roughly 15 minutes later, Jane Addams Middle School, Independence Elementary School and Oak View Elementary School were placed in soft lockdowns as well,” Randa said in an email. ” A soft lockdown means all doors were locked and no one was allowed to enter or leave the buildings. Normal activities continue inside the building during a soft lockdown. Upon advisement from law enforcement authorities, the lockdowns ended without incident at approximately 10:50 a.m.”
