Michael Mucha Racing lends support to Bolingbrook STEM
The Science, Technology, Engineering & Math of racing make STEM a perfect choice for this Bolingbrook race team to get behind and support.
Michael Mucha is a 5th grade student at Wood View Elementary in Bolingbrook. He serves on Student Council and enjoys math and science. He is always taking things apart to see how they work and has enjoyed the Maker Space program at school. When the Bolingbrook STEM Association offered a winter break camp, he couldn't wait to attend and he had a great time and learned a great deal.
Michael also races a half-scale NASCAR stock car capable of over 100 MPH, and will be starting his 3rd season in 2018 racing against drivers as old as 56 years of age. As a new driver in 2016, he earned Rookie of the Year. In 2017 he finished in 5th place overall in the points chase after seventeen races with two 2nd place finishes, one 3rd place, and several 4th place finishes. He is looking for a 1st place in 2018.
After attending STEM camp and relating just how much science, technology, engineering and math go into his car before every race, he wanted to be even more involved and learn even more.

Each year the Michael Mucha Racing team has supported a cause that empowers others to achieve or excel. First it was the battle against cystic fibrosis. Then in 2017 it was Special Olympics. For 2018 the team is pleased to announce that they will be partnering with the Bolingbrook STEM Association to bring as much attention to this outstanding program as possible.

There are numerous real-life applications that STEM applies to. For this race team, it includes the science behind centrifugal force; the technology that goes into everything from making horsepower to data acquisition; the engineering of the frame, cage and safety equipment; and non-stop math that is used to calculate weight placement, caster, camber, toe, stagger, gear ratios and much more.
