Missing Child Investigation Leads To Crash In Bolingbrook: Police
A missing child was believed to be with a man who had an active warrant in the Bolingbrook area.
BOLINGBROOK, IL — An attempted traffic stop for a missing juvenile investigation led to a crash in Bolingbrook on Wednesday, Bolingbrook Police said.
Police said information was broadcast Wednesday over the Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network about a missing child out of O'Fallon, Illinois.
The child was believed to be with a man, who had an active warrant, near Bolingbrook, according to police. At 2:51 p.m. Wednesday, a Bolingbrook Police officer saw a vehicle traveling on Boughton Road, which matched the description and had the vehicle registration believed to be connected with the missing child.

Police said the officer tried to stop the vehicle, and the vehicle immediately accelerated out of sight. The vehicle then crashed moments later at Boughton and Pinecrest roads.
Bolingbrook officers quickly arrived on scene, and found that the missing child was not in the company of the man at the time of the crash, according to police.

"Officers verified the juvenile’s wellbeing and have coordinated with officials from O’Fallon to help bring resolution to their original case," police said.
