Most Promenade Bolingbrook Stores Closed Thanksgiving Day 2021

BOLINGBROOK, IL — While the coronavirus changed a lot of things for the worse, holiday shopping hours don't seem to be among them.

Years ago, stores shut their doors on Thanksgiving, giving employees a hard-earned day off to spend with their families. Prior to the pandemic, that had been changing, with Thanksgiving increasingly supplanting Black Friday as the unofficial start of the holiday shopping season.

Not so, anymore. For the second year in a row, many malls will keep their doors shut for turkey day, including most stores at The Promenade Bolingbrook.

While most stores at The Promenade will be closed, mall representatives said Bass Pro Shops will be open on Thanksgiving Day.

The Bolingbrook mall will be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Black Friday.

Both Simon Property Group, the nation's largest mall operator, and Brookfield Properties, which operates several area malls, also confirmed they will take off the fourth Thursday in November.

Major retailers — including Bed, Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Costco, Kohl's, Target and Walmart — have said they will close as well, with Black Friday hours to be decided.
