National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Is Oct. 25 At Bolingbrook Police Department

Officers will accept unneeded medications from residents in an effort to prevent medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — The Bolingbrook Police Department will serve as an official drop-off site for the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Oct. 25. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., officers will be in the police department lobby to receive residents’ unneeded medications, the department said in a news release.

DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting, a news release states.

Items accepted include expired prescriptions, unwanted / unused prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, syrups, ointments, creams, patches and vitamins.

Items NOT accepted include: syringes, sharps, injectable drugs, intravenous solutions, illicit drugs, oxygen containers, pressurized canisters and medical equipment.
