Carol Junta died Jan. 19 in Bolingbrook, at the age of 83.

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Carol Jean Junta, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died Jan. 19, 2026, in Bolingbrook, at the age of 83, her family shared in her obituary. Born on April 30, 1942, in Taylor, Pennsylvania, Carol lived a life defined by compassion, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

According to her obituary:

Carol had a remarkable heart for others and spent her life helping those in need. As a foster mother, she opened her home and her heart to more than 100 displaced children, providing safety, love, and stability—whether for a few hours or for many years. To countless children, she was simply “Mom.”

Her generosity extended throughout her community. Carol volunteered tirelessly—cooking for soup kitchens, serving at local food pantries, and partnering with local businesses to collect and distribute food and clothing to those in need. She offered companionship to those without family and, through the Bolingbrook SDA church, participated in a prison outreach ministry. After nearly 15 years as a foster parent, she continued her calling to nurture and care for others by working as a nanny for multiple families. In addition, and through her late years, she devoted her time and donations to numerous charities, always guided by a deep desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Carol’s warmth, humor, and selfless spirit touched everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy filled with kindness, laughter, and unconditional love.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Junta; her treasured children, Russell Ventanni, Jeffrey Ventanni (Pam Ventanni), Lisa Ventanni (Lisa Carlson), Todd Ventanni, and Tiffany Junta; her grandchildren, Steven Ventanni (Gina Glasgow) and Alex Ventanni; and her great-grandchildren, Aleta Ventanni and Lucia Ventanni. She is also survived by her siblings, Michael (Mickey), Raymond, and Betty Jane (Betsy). Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Edward James (Jimmy), Father Michael Petrunich and Mother Agnes (Matician) Petrunich.

A private memorial service celebrating Carol’s life will be held.

Carol Jean Junta’s life was a testament to the power of generosity, selflessness, and compassion and the enduring impact one person can have on the world. She will be remembered with admiration, affection, and profound gratitude by all who were blessed to know her.
