Plainfield Man With Drugs Strikes Tree, Gets Arrested: Police

Bolingbrook Police officers say they ultimately found Jatori Walton hiding inside a house.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - A 21-year-old Plainfield man now finds himself behind bars inside the Will County Jail after police in Bolingbrook say Jatori Walton crashed into a tree and then tried to hide in somebody's house to avoid being captured on several drug charges. The incident unfolded around 7:20 p.m. Sunday in the village of Bolingbrook.

According to authorities, a patrol officer saw Walton's car turning onto Plainview Drive at the intersection of Lily Cache without using his turn signal. His car's registration was also expired, police said.

Police say that Walton hit the gas once he realized the Bolingbrook officer had turned on their squad car's emergency lights to pull him over. Bolingbrook Police say the patrol officer did not engage in a police chase with the fleeing motorist, but the officer later realized Walton's car "had crashed into a tree in the 300 block of Fox Bend ... Jatori Walton, 21 years of age, from Plainfield, was observed running from the car," police reports show.

Bolingbrook Police say they peered into the empty damaged car and saw a gun on the floor and several bags filled with marijuana. And there were more drugs, according to police.

"Officers also located in the cup holder several plastics bags of multi-colored pills, later identified as MDMA ecstasy," police reports indicate.

Eventually, the police say they captured Walton hiding in a closet at an acquaintance’s home in the 100 block of Fox Bend in Bolingbrook.

Walton was subsequently hauled off to the Will County Jail where he faces the following offenses:

  • fleeing and eluding
  • possession of a controlled substance
  • possession of marijuana
  • unlawful possession of a gun by a felon
  • unlawful of a weapon
  • failure to signal

Will County Jail logs indicate that Walton lives in the 14100 block of South Napa Circle in Plainfield.
