Reckless Homicide Charges For Joliet Man In Bolingbrook Crash
A 17-year-old boy was killed in the crash.

JOLIET, IL — Ehran Kalkan, a 22-year-old Joliet resident, is now facing several counts of reckless homicide in connection with a crash in Bolingbrook on West Boughton Road that took the life of Colin Montrose, a 17-year-old passenger in another car.
Kalkan faces two counts of reckless homicide, two counts of aggravated reckless driving and one count of aggravated use of an electronic communication device. The bill of indictment was announced Thursday at the Will County Courthouse.
According to the indictment, Kalkan was driving a Chevrolet Impala on West Boughton Road on March 9, 2020, while using an electronic communication device "and in committing the violation, he was involved in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in death to ... Colin Montrose, and he was the proximate cause of the injury or death."

Montrose died after suffering severe injuries in a two-car crash that happened on Boughton east of Whitewater Drive, Bolingbrook Patch reported in 2020.
The indictment states that Kalkan's actions on March 9, 2020, caused great bodily harm or permanently disability to a woman who was driving the other vehicle, a Chevrolet Cavalier.

Kalkan lives in the apartment units in the 2800 block of Joliet's Heritage Drive, court documents note.
