Services Set For Leroy Brown, Bolingbrook's Deputy Mayor
Brown died following heart surgery. He was safety coordinator for Valley View School District and adored by many residents.
BOLINGBROOK, IL - Funeral services for Bolingbrook Village Trustee Leroy Brown Sr., who died this week at age 73, will take place later next week at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Brown had served as Bolingbrook's deputy mayor under Roger Claar and he worked as safety coordinator for the Valley View School District. Visitation is Thursday, November 9, from 2 to 6 p.m. at St. Francis church, 1501 West Boughton Road. That same night will be prayer service from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Then on Friday, November 10, mourners can come to pay their respects from 9 to 10 a.m. The funeral Mass will begin at 10 a.m. and Leroy Brown will be buried immediately afterward at Hillcrest Cemetery.
In honor of Bolingbrook's long-time deputy mayor and civic leader in the community, the village announced the flags at Bolingbrook's Village Hall are now being flown at half-staff. Brown came to Bolingbrook in 1976 and he was a devout parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi Church, a press advisory noted. He was also a Vietnam Veteran who served as a Green Beret.
Brown is survived by his wife of 51 years, Pat. He also has two grown sons, Leroy Jr. and Jeffrey as well as five grandchildren, according to the obituary notice.

In 2009, Brown received the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Last year, Brown was the Grand Marshall of the Pathways Parade.
This year, he was named Paul Harris Fellow by the Bolingbrook Rotary Club.
"Deputy Mayor Leroy Brown Sr. was a friend and confidante to many. His “home-going” leaves a hole in Bolingbrook that will be hard to fill," Friday's release states.
