Transfer Taxes

When buying and selling a home, it seems like the whole world wants to get into your pocket.  The state, the county, and the city all charge a real estate transfer tax.
This tax is $1.00 per $1,000 of the sales price for the state (or $200 for a $200k home) and $.50 per $1,000 for the county.
The village of Bolingbrook charges BOTH the buyer and seller $3.75 per $1,000. 
Woodridge charges $2.50 per $1,000 to the seller, Joliet $3.50 to the seller, Naperville $3.00 per $1,000 to the buyer, and Romeoville charges $3.50 per $1,000 to the buyer.
