Valley View Announces 2017-18 Early Release Dates

BOLINGBROOK, IL — In an effort to give teachers more time to collaborate, analyze student data and take part in additional professional development, Valley View School District 365U will continue with a monthly early release initiative for all K-12 schools next school year.

Elementary early release will take place at 12:43 p.m. for high school students, 1:20 p.m. for middle school students and 2:15 p.m. for students in grades K-5 on Aug. 30, Sept. 27, Oct. 25, Nov. 29, Dec. 6, Jan. 31, Feb. 28, March 28, April 25 and May 16.

Both the VVSD Nutrition Services and Transportation Departments will make the necessary one-time-a-month adjustments in their schedules.

Busing will be provided at the end of the shortened day for students who are regular bus riders. Families who currently have children in after-school care in their VVSD schools will be able to attend their programs for the extra hour for an hourly fee.

VVSD after-school care programs are able to handle students who sign up on a one hour drop-in basis for an hourly fee. Several private day care facilities in the area have informed VVSD they have room for care on early release days.
