Valley View Educators Give Back
Local teacher's union uses annual party to raise funds for community non-profits.

BOLINGBROOK, IL— As a way to celebrate the end of another successful school year, the Valley View Council Teacher’s Union held its annual end of year celebration at Tailgaters Sports Bar and Grill Wednesday, May 8th.
While this event traditionally provides educators district-wide a rare chance to unwind, this year VVC members also used their annual party as an opportunity to give back to the families of Bolingbrook and Romeoville.
Through a raffle, Valley View Council members raised over $600 with all proceeds benefiting the Valley View Educational Enrichment Foundation, a local non-profit that provides economic support to the District’s neediest families and students. A food drive was also held with non-perishables donated to the Romeoville Food Pantry.

“Ultimately, the goal of this party was to celebrate the accomplishments and dedication of our members while providing direct assistance to the students and families we work with on a daily basis,” said Union President and RC Hill teacher Renee Calabrese. “We are extremely proud of our members who continually find ways to support this community in ways that go above and beyond the already exceptional work carried out in our schools on a daily basis.”
The Valley View Council would like to acknowledge the generous donations provided by the Bolingbrook Golf Club, the Bolingbrook Park District, the Romeoville Recreation Center, Katie Prokop at Lucky Lady Bakes Cookies, Valley View Senior Leadership and Tailgaters Sports Bar and Grill.
