Valley View Shifts Start Times For 2023-24 School Year

BOLINGBROOK-ROMEOVILLE, IL — Valley View School District has adjusted start times for all grade levels, starting with the first day of school for the 2023-24 school year, according to a news release from the district.

"With only six weeks of school left on the calendar this year, we want to make note of adjustments to staff and student start times for our next school year (2023-24)," the District said in a news release. "We know that even small changes to a daily school schedule affects each family’s schedule and requires a great deal of coordination."

The changes will go into effect on the first day of school, which is Aug. 17 for K-12 and STEP, and Aug. 21 for early childhood.

Grades K-5 will start the day at 9:05 a.m., and end at 3:30 p.m.; grades 6-8 will start at 8:20 a.m., and end at 2:45 p.m., and high school students will begin at 7:30 a.m., and end at 2:15 p.m.

The District also noted that starting in September, there will be two early release days per month.

"As the new school year approaches, each school will communicate specific information regarding the daily schedule," the district said.

Valley View School District Board of Education approved the 2023-2024 school year calendar at a meeting in December 2022. The first day of school for the 2023-24 school year will be Aug. 17, and the tentative last day of school will be May 24, 2024.
