Valley View Students Collect Socks For Family Resource Center

BOLINGBROOK, IL — Students in the Newspaper Club at A. Vito Martinez Middle School in Romeoville collected hundreds of pairs of socks during a "Socktober" collection event last month, the district said in a release.

The socks were donated to the Valley View School District Family Resource Center, which will distribute the socks to families in need in the community, the district said.

The AVM Newspaper Club’s faculty sponsor is Special Education Teacher Jill Adkins.

In addition to the sock donations, the Family Resource Center also received an $1,800 donation from local business, Menasha Corporation, the district said.

The donation will be used to support families in need of coats and basic necessities, the district said.
