Village Updates Residents On The Coronavirus Situation
The Village is now in phase two as per Gov. J.B. Pritzker's Restore Illinois plan, allowing non-essential businesses to reopen.
BOLINGBROOK, IL — On Wednesday, May 6, Bolingbrook Mayor Roger C. Claar and his staff updated residents on the COVID-19 situation via a video.
Mayor Claar called on Ken Teppel, director of the public safety department at the Village of Bolingbrook, to talk about Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Restore Illinois plan.
He said right now Bolingbrook is in phase two, which means nonessential retail and stores have reopened for curbside pickup and businesses that couldn't deliver in the past can do so now.

“We can move forward, we can move backward. It's all based upon empirical data in cases and deaths and hospitalizations. The soonest, if you're wondering that we can move to phase three which would be a more of a lax space where manufacturing offices, retail, barbershops, salons can reopen. Gatherings of 10 people or fewer are allowed, face coverings and social distancing is still the norm. The soonest the governor states that could possibly happen would be May 28. And if you recall, May 30 is when his next executive order is going to end.”
Teppel said the testing site in Bolingbrook is still open. It's run by Walgreens, and they are following the Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines for people to get tested. On their website, the list of symptoms now for COVID-19 has been expanded greatly.
"It used to be just fever, dry cough, maybe some chest congestion. Now it's got everything from rash to stomach issues. There's a whole litany of symptoms now, or if you're a healthcare or first responder with or without symptoms, you can go and get tested. So if you have any questions or you're interested in getting tested and go to the Walgreens site."
"I also want to remind folks a few days ago, on May 4, we opened up the police department lobby again to all Village services. So the fire department, police department, building department, public services, the finance department, everyone is back in the police department lobby."
He also informed residents about the employees within the police department who had tested positive for the coronavirus.

“We monitored those folks, and they were quarantined, and with the physicians, the ones that did have symptoms were under a physician's care. The ones that were asymptomatic, we monitored in quarantine. I'm happy to report that all nine of those employees are healthy."
