WGN Picks Bolingbrook High School Staffer As Teacher Of Month

Bolingbrook High School physical education teacher Orlando Gonzalez was nominated by a student.

BOLINGBROOK, IL - Sometimes being an educator can be a thankless job but some students at Bolingbrook High School have gone out of their way to bring recognition to one of their teachers. WGN Channel 9 in Chicago selected Bolingbrook High School physical education teacher Orlando Gonzalez as its October teacher of the month. He was nominated by Brittani Pendleton, a junior at Bolingbrook High School.

According to the Valley View School District, Brittani is a student in Gonzalez's adventure physical education class, and she wrote a letter to WGN explaining why he was deserving of the prestigious award.

"Brittani cited Mr. Gonzalez’s patience in teaching skills such as archery and fishing and his willingness to help students work through the difficulties they encounter," Valley View stated in a press release.
