Mother And 2-Year-Old Reunited After Kidnapping Scare

Police are questioning a woman after an attempted kidnapping at a Chicago Greyhound bus station, authorities said.

CHICAGO, IL — A 2-year-old boy was taken from a Greyhound bus station in Chicago's West Loop Monday evening, police said. The incident happened around 6:50 p.m. at the station in the 600 block of West Harrison Street, police said. An acquaintance of the boy's family took the toddler without permission while the mother was distracted, police said.

Witnesses said the mother panicked when she found her son's empty stroller, according to a report by ABC 7. A security guard said the woman began screaming and yelling for help, and the guard called 911, according to the report. The mother then got into a police car, and officers helped her find her little boy.

The toddler was reunited with his mother at Jefferson and Harrison around 7:10 p.m., police said.

The 2-year-old was taken to Lurie Children's Hospital for evaluation.

Police said the family acquaintance who took the toddler was being questioned by Area Central detectives.
