5411 Empanadas Expanding Into Empty J. Wellington's
The fast-growing empanada business on North Clark Street is coming to Wicker Park at the end of the year.
Residents will welcome a little bit of Buenos Aires to the neighborhood by the end of the year.
5411 Empanadas, an Argentinian empanada food truck that opened its first storefront at 2850 N. Clark St., will be filling in the empty storefront on West North Avenue in Wicker Park.
The building, previously home to the burger joint J. Wellington's, at 2045 W. North Ave. was purchased by Lipe Property Company less than a month ago. At the end of July, owner Steve Lipe was unable to disclose information on the tenant.
At the Wicker Park Committee Membership Meeting on Wednesday, members voted on approving the new business occupying the building.
5411 Empanadas co-owner Nicolas Ibarzabal presented information on his eatery at the meeting. He hopes to open this second storefront by the end of the year, or early in 2014.
