Become An Ambassador!

Volunteering at a medical center carries unique rewards for individuals of all ages, and Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center (PSMEMC) encourages community members to explore the possibilities.

Younger people can gain valuable work experience to build a resume and expand their network of contacts. Adults can obtain the spiritual rewards of giving back to the community while providing a helping hand to those in need.

PSMEMC is accepting applications for volunteers who are at least 15 years old. Benefits include:

· A free meal is provided on days you volunteer

· Exposure to health care career opportunities and opportunities to meet various health care professionals (which may be important for nursing and medical students)

· Recognition at the annual volunteer luncheon

PSMEMC provides a variety of opportunities for volunteers. The most prominent are:

· Patient Ambassadors – who engage inpatients and family members in conversation and provide company, as needed, to help ease the stresses of hospitalization. They also provide assistance in assuring that patient requests are satisfied and conduct patient care surveys on inpatient units.

· Resale Shop staffing – who provide a welcoming retail environment to all customers. This includes accepting donations, handling sales, bagging merchandise, stocking inventory and keeping the shop organized.

· Third year nursing and medical students are needed for a unique opportunity to assist in reducing patient readmissions.

We also have volunteer opportunities in various departments including Cardiology, Employee Health Services, Environmental Services, Food Services, Outpatient Oncology, Patient Access, Recovery Room, and Security.
