Bucktown Chef Gives Chicago Pot Patients a 4/20 Treat

Marijuana edibles debuted by chef at Mindy's Hot Chocolate on Wednesday.

CHICAGO, IL - A new line of marijuana edibles was released by a Bucktown chef on 4/20, the yearly unofficial holiday celebrated by marijuana users nationwide.

Mindy Segal of Mindy’s Hot Chocolate, 1747 N. Damen Ave. partnered with Cresco Labs to create THC-infused chocolate brittle bars, granola bites and warm drinks, according to NBC-Chicago.

"We've all heard the expression 'it tastes like medicine,' but there's no reason it has to," Segal said. "With my recipes and Cresco's technology, we're developing this line of products to be consistent every time and absolutely enjoyable to eat."

The products will only be available at licensed medical marijuana dispensaries in Illinois, of which there will be 25 or so by the end of 2017.

A Chicago dispensary, located at 5001 N. Clark St. in Andersonville, is already open. Dispensary 33 became the first medical marijuana dispensary to open within city limits on Dec. 9, 2015.

The treats will only be available to approved patients suffering from one of the dozens of conditions eligible for marijuana to be used as medicine.
