Chicago Police Conducts DUI Patrol this Weekend in Wicker Park

The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence at 7 p.m. on Saturday and end at 3 a.m. on Sunday.

WICKER PARK, IL — Chicago Police is conducting a DUI Strike Force Patrol in the Near West District this weekend, which includes Wicker Park, parts of the West Loop, Near West Side, Little Italy, University Village, Greektown, Medical District, West Town, Ukrainian Village, East Village and Noble Square.

The DUI Strike Force Patrol will commence at 7 p.m. on Saturday and end at 3 a.m. on Sunday, police announced.

During the effort, officers will continually monitor vehicular traffic for signs of impaired driving, as well as speeding and safety belt violations.

The Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may also be deployed to enable officers to expedite the process of charging a person with Driving under the Influence (DUI) prior to transporting an alleged into the nearest lockup for bonding.

A DUI Strike Force Patrol conducted in the Grand Central Police District on Sept. 9-10 resulted in a total of 156 charges, including one drunken driving charge, 46 unsafe vehicle violations, 21 insurance violations, 20 safety belt violations and 14 driver's license violations, DNA Info reports.
