Conan is still looking for someone to love him.
This blog is to help rescued dogs get a second chance at the life they deserve; a life filled with love, compassion and companionship. They give us so much and ask for so little in return for their unconditional love.

In late January of this year I posted a story in the” Speak Out” section entitled “Give These Dogs a Second Chance”. This is an update on Violet and Conan.

Happily and most deservedly, Violet has a happy ending. In late February Violet was adopted into a loving forever home! She has a doggie sibling and a great family that loves her unconditionally. Violet is a deaf pit bull that was abused and then abandoned after a rival gang member burned down the building she was living in.
Conan is still waiting for his forever home. He was rescued from the streets of Chicago. Conan’s previous owner allowed him to run loose in the neighborhood. When the neighbors complained to Animal Control, the owner hid Conan at a friend’s body shop. Conan was found chained to the axle of a truck on a loading dock. When he began to move around, he fell off the loading dock and was hanging from his neck. Luckily he was rescued in time before dying a slow, painful death. Conan spent the next two and a half years in an overcrowded home without much care.

He was relinquished and taken into Curtis Scott’s dog training facility in Chicago. He has been brought back to health by Dr. Dawn Straily of Chicago in Home Veterinary Care. Both Dr. Straily and Curtis have worked their magic to give Conan something he has never had; care, training, love and a chance to be a happy dog.
Conan has been expertly trained by Curtis. He acts as a helper to Curtis by accompanying him to clients’ private in- home training sessions. He serves by helping the other dog and its owner and as an example of a balanced dog.
