Festival Fundraiser For Peace Coming To Goose Island

The 3rd annual One City event will raise funds for the Peacebook Festival.

CHICAGO, IL — The One City Festival Fundraiser for Peace will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Estate Rooftop in the Goose Island neighborhood. Organized by the Chicago theater organization Collaboraction and music event organizer Paradigm On The Terrace, the event will benefit the city-wide Peacebook Festival, which will feature theater, dance and spoken word performances. One City will also offer an all day BBQ provided by Slow Motion for Meat.

Last year’s One City event drew more than 800 attendees and raised $30,000 to support Peacebook free community meals, peace panels, free shows throughout the city and the Peacemakers, Collaboraction’s acclaimed youth theater program.

The One City festival will feature house music DJs Lee Foss, Lady D and Diz. There will also be live performances by Ric Wilson, Pinqy Ring, Makia, Phenom and the Emcee Skool and Daybreaker.

DJ Lee Foss said he's honored to be performing in the festival.

“I'm a proud Chicagoan and have been blessed to have all the opportunity in the world," Foss said. "The current violence in my hometown cuts me to the core. These are deeply entrenched social issues married to a complete institutional dysfunction and the sooner everyone starts to take part in the dialogue and contribute their time, money and energy, the sooner the city can start to heal and work on these social issues."

The Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks series will host more than 1,000 cultural events and programs at more than 250 neighborhood parks throughout the city.
