Food News: Red Square Café Lounge Opens Soon, and More

A new cafe is set to open at the site of Wicker Park's historic Division Bath House and two well-known bakers return to Chicago with new jobs.

Red Square Café Lounge is set to open in mid-January in the landmark Wicker Park building that previously housed Division Bath House at 1914 W. Division St., according to an Eater report.

While the new business will feature updated saunas, steam rooms and baths, it will also include a 3,500 square foot bar and restaurant featuring Russian dishes. There will also be a salon, along with a bed-and-breakfast on the second floor, according to the report.

In other food and business news, punk-rock baker Michelle Garcia has taken a job at E.Leaven on the Near North Side after a stint in California following the closing of Wicker Park's Bleeding Heart Bakery in August, according to a Chicago Magazine report. After Bleeding Heart closed, she spent three months working as executive pastry chef at the Four Seasons in San Francisco before returning to Chicago.

The report also mentions that outspoken baker and former Pasticceria Natalina owner Natalie Zarzour has returned to Chicago to take a baking job at Wicker Park's Taxim, 1558 N. Milwaukee Ave. She's also begun to compile her recipes on her website as a sort of public, online cookbook.
