Guilty Verdict in Bucktown Bat Beating Case
The attack on Damen left an exchange student from Northern Ireland unable to talk or walk on her own.

After 3.5 hours of deliberation, a jury tonight found Heriberto Viramontes guilty of severely beating an Irish exchange student with a baseball bat and injuring her friend in 2010, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Viramontes was found guilty on 10 counts of attempted first-degree murder, armed robbery and aggravated battery, for the attack on North Damen Avenue that left Natasha McShane unable to talk and seriously physically incapacitated, according to the Tribune. Her friend, Stacy Jurich, was also injured and testified in the trial.
