On Saturday, March 14, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Holy Trinity High School will host Robofest, a national robotics tournament for middle school and high school students, sponsored in conjunction with Lawrence Technical University. This will be the inaugural event in the Chicago area.

Robofest is a festival of competitions and events with autonomous robots that encourages students to have fun while learning principles of physical science, computer science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Students design, construct, and program the robots. Any robotics kits are allowed in the construction of robots.

Teams compete in the junior (grades 4-8), and senior (grades 9-12) divisions. Student teams, composed of up to five members each, can participate in the Game and Exhibition competitions. In the Game competition, students will work to accomplish robotics missions using fully autonomous robots. Robofest Game especially puts math skills to the test. The Exhibition competition gives teams complete freedom to show off any creative computer programmed robotics R&D project. Students or schools interested in participating in Robofest can register and learn more at www.holytrinity-hs.org/robofest.

Holy Trinity High School offers a unique business, science, technology, engineering and math (BSTEM) program for its students. This program offers advanced courses in all STEM areas with a special emphasis on business and entrepreneurial development. While at Holy Trinity, students can choose from a variety of computer courses including app development, game design, robotics and computer science.
